Our Company History

D.W. Masonry, Inc. was established by David W. Smith, Sr. in 1976. When asked, he will tell you that starting the company was his best decision, ranked only second to proposing to his wife Robyn, who is the beloved matriarch of the family. A fourth-generation mason, David Sr. worked on various historic jobs, including the William Paca House, Naval Academy, and the brick streets of Annapolis, Maryland.

Carrying on his father’s work legacy, David W. Smith, Jr. is a fifth-generation mason who now helms the family company. David Jr. was promoted to President in 2010 and Chief Executive Officer in 2019. He is involved with many aspects of the business, including estimating/bidding, meeting with clients and vendors, and has over 30 years of experience working as a mason. David Jr. is also a graduate of Wesley College, holding a degree in marketing, and is a licensed realtor.

Tammy Smith Lednum is the daughter of David W. Smith, Sr., and is also a graduate of Wesley College with a degree in business administration. She serves as Chief Financial Officer. She is responsible for finance, tax, planning/budgeting, as well as various business administrative functions.

Bill Lednum, Tammy’s husband, is Vice President and works closely with employees to ensure materials, tools, and equipment are available at job sites while maintaining a fleet of vehicles. He has worked in the family business since 1990. Bill’s expertise as a mason and keen eye for reading blueprints during the bidding and construction processes have proven invaluable to the company.

A seasoned veteran of the commercial construction industry, Jen brings a wealth of experience in strategic direction, project management, and cost analysis. In addition to her leadership at D.W.
